Unfathomable

Articles like this remind me how thankful (and lucky) I am to be an American woman:

In The News

I've been surfing some news articles this afternoon, so I thought I'd share what I found interesting with you.

Entire School System to Be Scrubbed After Superbug Case - Yeah, this made me feel really great about the start of the cold/flu season.

On a related note, The Germiest Places in America - I will never, ever see my laundry the same again!

For Halloween, I found this feature article: Top 10 Scariest Movies. Scary is different for everyone, so I see this list only as a "must see" reference. I've seen 60% of these movies, but "The Shining" only made honorable mention. That movie scared me so much I've never actually seen the movie in its entirety!

For my fellow geeks, I found this one: Google Launches IMAP Support for Email. I'll be checking this new feature out.

Crisis Feared as US Water Supplies Dry Up - This is not news to Nevadans, we've been under drought conditions and water restrictions for several years already! At the bottom of the first page of the article there's a map showing how much water on average each state uses. I'm glad to say Nevada is on the lowest end of the scale, although I realize our lower population relative to other states is part of it.

Did She Really Think It Would Work?

Did you see this news story?

Woman Seeks Rich Husband, Banker Says Crappy Deal

While I'm pretty disgusted by her shallow ad on Craigslist, at least she was honest, right? It's like the guy on the corner with the sign that says "Why lie, I need money for beer." I'm not going to give him the money, but I'm going to appreciate the approach.

The banker who replied cracked me up until he said "By 35, stick a fork in you." Hey now!

What do you think? Would an approach like this appeal to you?

My Apathy

There are so many of my favorite bloggers who really like to talk about current issues. They inspire me to think on each side of so much happening in our big ol' universe. I feel like I've been in an apathetic funk - and I've almost completely cut news out of my daily routine, it's all so depressing and heavy. I haven't given up my cheeky gossip news reading, however - which is not any better, I know. I find it all very funny and mindless. I hope this is just a phase, I've always really cared about current events (okay, minus politics). I guess it's a damn good thing I didn't get that journalism degree, afterall... which leads me to another episode of what's in my head:

I've become addicted to diet Mt. Dew. Where has this been all my life?

Coworker S. reminded me of the movie Legend this morning. (Click to see the IMDB page for it.) How did I forget this movie? I must add it to my collection!! Come on, you know you LOVED this movie. It was a great date movie in the 80's, wouldn't you agree? I'm a fan of Tim Curry, and he certainly didn't disappoint!

I had a strange dream about someone else from my past last night. No, not the ONE who still rents space in my head. Another one that I hadn't expected to be popping up in my dreams, although he does every once in awhile. I'll have to take some time to write about him. It's a funny thing about me - I don't spend much time with the what-ifs, because what good will that do? But I do spend a lot of time in my head being introspective about where I've been.

Happy Thursday!! One more day 'til the weekend...
