I "Saw" It

For the last couple of years I've been hounded by coworker S. to watch the movie Saw. In seeing previews back in 2004, I saw it as a horror movie, and I don't watch horror movies. This wasn't always the case, I just lost the taste for them somewhere along the way. Coworker S. kept selling it as a psychological thriller, saying that I'd totally love the mind f*&% the movie offers. Well, I finally broke down and watched it. Mind f*&% you say? It sure is - over and over and over, and just when you think these characters can't get anymore screwed... yup, it just gets worse.

Now I'm not saying it's a bad movie, I mean - I was literally on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole movie, and there's nothing predictable about it (the ending - that was just crazy shit). I'm always good for a thrill ride - but as I told someone earlier today, they could have shortened that movie by about an hour and I would have been good. I prefer the length of the scariest roller coaster you can imagine - all that fear, twists and turns, in a matter of just a few minutes. That's much more my style. :)

I have yet to see this movie. I wanted to at first, then I wasn't sure because horror movies aren't usually my thing... Your mention of it needing to be shortened by "about an hour" is a little overwhelming though, yikes!... Maybe I'll catch it one of these days though.

It was dragged out a bit longer than it needed to be, I totally agree. I watched the second one and was soo unimpressed that I haven't bothered to watch 3, 4, or 5. Can't say I'll never watch them, but they're not on my list.

I watched this movie in a theater with a past girlfriend of mine that loves the series. I have since been to many of the 'films' with her every opening night over the years. I was never impressed.. it just became tradition.

I skipped a few - (she and I still hang out now and again) - then saw the most recent one with her , and I was pleasantly surprised that it had a 'bit' of intelligence to the story-line. Nonetheless.. I hear ya on not wanting to see Part II ;/
