What's On My iPod

The Flys - "Got You (Where I Want You)" - This is a song from 1998... which was an awesome year for me! It doesn't show up much in my shuffle, so it was a nice surprise. If you're a Katie Holmes fan, she appears in this video.

No Doubt - "Sunday Morning" - No Doubt's early stuff is what I prefer, and this song is from "Tragic Kingdom" (1995 I believe). I had completely forgotten there was a video for this song - bonus!

Urge Overkill - "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" - If you listen to this song knowing that Neil Diamond wrote it, you can totally see it. I absolutely adore this track from the Pulp Fiction soundtrack, it's a haunting love song! Pulp Fiction, incidentally, is one of my favorite movies; when it was released you'd never seen anything like it, and during the whole movie I was either laughing, dropping jaw, making an "ewwwww" face or feeling complete disbelief. There wasn't a dull moment, and that makes an awesome flick.

Duran Duran - "Careless Memories" - This song is from their first self-titled album, and is probably my favorite song from it. I remember when they released a "video album" that had this video on it, and I watched it more times than I can count. I also have this on a 12" vinyl extended EP, it's one of my prized possessions from my teenage years. :)

Boston - "More Than a Feeling" - I don't include much classic rock here, mostly because videos aren't as easy to find, but I have a huge collection of this stuff. I got a chance to see Boston at the Aladdin Theater a very long time ago (as evidenced by the Aladdin's implosion in 1998). These guys put on an awesome show... wow, thinking about it, I think it was 1994 when I saw them.

Too many good songs here not to comment. "Careless Memories" is on of my favorite tunes by DD. Something about the line "...but it always takes so damn long before I feel how much my eyes have darkened" always reminds me of an internal darkness manifesting itself. "More Than A Feeling" is classic, "Got You (Where I Want You)" should have led to better things for the Flys, "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" was a reward to Urge Overkill for endurance (the song was overlooked by many as it appeared on their 1992 EP Still and resurfaced as a hit 2 years later) and I agree that No Doubt's "Sunday Morning" gets overlooked often for other hits. Great collection.
