2008 Mtv Movie Awards

I know the show was over a week ago, but Nik asked how the 2008 Mtv Movie Awards was - so I thought I'd post two of my favorite moments from the show. The video quality isn't exactly the best, but still good enough and hilarious. Not posting video here, but worth mentioning, was Johnny Depp's appearance. He's not big on award shows and is really shy and a bit awkward live - so the audience went crazy when he accepted his Best Comedic Performance award for "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End". May I just say that he is getting better and better with age - OMG that man is seriously hot. (Pardon me while I wipe the drool.)

So anyway, where was I? Oh yes. Two of my favorite moments from the award show. As you know, Mike Myers hosted the show, and I'm a big fan of his SNL days... so Dana Carvey made an appearance and they did a Wayne's World skit:

My favorite part, however, was with Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black doing a skit about their new movie, "Tropical Thunder". If you've seen the previews, this movie looks effing hilarious. They did not disappoint with the shameless plug here, either:

Overall, it was a pretty good show. No drama, some great funny moments, and some good music too. I'm glad I watched it vs. deleting it from the DVR.

I have watched the Tropic Thumder bit a good dozen times and can not stop laughing every single time! It is that hilarious. And while I am not a huge Ben Stiller fan I will go see this movie strictly based on the hilariousness of this video.

I don't really like the MTV awards, but there were some funny moments. I agree that the Tropic Thunder skit was hilarious, unlike their lame-o bit from the American Idol finale.

Did you notice that Rihanna looked pissed off every time they showed her? I kept wondering what her problem was.

Thanks for the recap. I didn't see it and the videos were great. I'm too old to sit through most of this stuff.

I'll have to see if/when they're going to re-air the awards show. You have piqued my interest. A Wayne and Garth "reunion", I'm bummed that I missed it.
