Let's face it... chances are you deal with incompetency in the workplace on a daily basis. Someone who doesn't pull their weight, or doesn't know what they're doing. Perhaps their personality is as painful as stepping on a cactus, repeatedly. You have two choices: learn to deal with it or move on.
When I am forced to face any of the above (and trust me, I am), I've learned to live with it. I'm lucky enough to have coworkers I trust completely - they let me vent my frustration, and I'm done with it. I'm also fortunate in that I dig going in to work every day. I love what I do! So why let what I can't control take that away? If I get to a point where I lose that focus, I've got the experience and education to move on, but I'm hoping I'll never have to consider it.

Hopefully you can set things up to not be dependent on them. If so, just avoid them or ignore them. Unfortunately, if it's a boss (as I had once) you just look for another job.
You have no idea how lucky you are.
I find myself spending a lot more energy on dealing with difficult co-workers than I do getting my job done.
I write a piece of code to replace them.
Machiavelli, you ain't got nothin' on me.
