Givin' No Love for April 1st

Every single year I dread April Fool's Day. I don't even know why? Perhaps it's because I am so damn gullible, or because I'm not creative enough to pull off any practical jokes, or maybe because I'm always the sympathizer when someone is a victim on this day. It's not even like I'm scarred - I've never had a good joke played on me (do not take this as an invitation...), and I am not big on being party to playing a joke on someone else. I know it's all in good fun, but it reminds me of school yard antics, which = cruel, in my head.

So I tried last week to get the guys at work to call a truce on April Fool's Day. I wanted insurance that I wasn't going to get ambushed tomorrow. No one agreed on the truce. Uh oh? I seriously have anxiety about April Fool's Day, how twisted is that? LOL

Have you ever played a practical joke on someone? Or been a victim? Tell me about it.

If you need me, I'll be in hiding until Wednesday!

I was never good at pulling things off, so I was always the one trod upon. Hide well. Maybe a trip to Caliente?

April Fools day is just a huge websurfing day for me. I load up wikipedia's april fools day page and surf, surf, surf.

personally I hate April Fool's Day - guess it's funner in grade school, though I never had anything bad done to me, and now I dread bad thing being done to my kid, or her doing bad things to others. Worst of all I finally see my new oncologist today and I was all excited about it till I read this post. What if I get bad news like my cancer is everywhere. God wouldn't that make for an aweful day? I'm still crossing my fingers that all goes well, but now I have anxiety too. Better take a xanax before I go = )

I have a hard time taking anything I read on the web seriously on April Fool's Day.

I hate this day too. In fact it was the topic of my post today as well. I just don't get how practical jokes are funny. They are hurtful.

As a teacher, I hate this day as well. All the silly tricks the kids try to pull are annoying. However to be a hypocrite, I always play one back on them. Last year I gave my 4th graders a calculus test instead of their regular math test, this year I gave them a following directions test with a ton of things to do, with the last one being, don't do anything and you will get an A. Only 4 kids got an A.

LOL Teri-that's hilarious!

I've never been one to play pranks, and I don't remember ever having a good one being played on me, unless I was just traumatized and blocked it out. lol

No one really pulled any jokes on me yesterday. I guess you could say I'm gullible and always fall for them too, or, more to the point, I haven't cared about April Fool's Day since I was like 12.

But every April Fool's Day, I'm reminded of the great Homer Simpson quote: "You couldn't fool your own mother on the foolingest day of your life with an electrified fooling machine!"

I'm in the take-it-or-leave-it camp when it comes to April Fool's Day. Sometimes it's funny, most of the time it's just mean. I did trick my nephew this year though. He was at the breakfast table and I informed him that they cancelled school that day. Once he believed me, I let him know I was messing with him. He told me later that day that some of his teachers got some jokes in. One of his teachers told the class that the test they were taking was harder than usual, so they should use a #3 pencil instead. Things like that are funny, but alot of pranks are just hurtful and wrong.
