What's In My Head

I am an award show dummy - but I'm not understanding why the SAG show still happened, and the Golden Globes didn't? The writer's strike isn't over, or is it? I couldn't care less about the Hollywood hoopla around these shows, just bring back HIMYM, will ya?

One of my oldest and dearest friends is divorcing. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding just over a decade ago. I'm saddened by this news.

I watched "Clerks" for the first time a few days ago, and started watching "Mallrats" tonight. It escapes me why I missed them when they were released, as I was at the age to have completely related to them. Nonetheless I am highly amused and I'm understanding why Kevin Smith is now a rich man.

This weekend moved so quickly, I need another day off. I'm needing one of those stay home alone with the blinds closed, sleeping until 10 and still in my pajamas at 2pm kind of days. It's one of the things I miss about my pre-responsibilities days - it was so easy to do then.

I need to get more frugal in my life. I am really smart about saving for the future, but with what I have now? Yeah. Need to make changes.

I'm watching Dane Cook's Vicious Circle concert, and if you've never heard/seen him, you're missing out! He makes my cheeks hurt from laughing, and I'm definitely going to have to see him in Vegas sometime. I posted this quite some time ago, but it's so worth reposting... a fan made a little visual aid video to one of his most hilarious bits, "BK Lounge". Warning, NSFW (language).

If you dig Kevin Smith you should watch Live Free or Die Hard. It is so awesome, great role for the Mac guy to be in too!

Also as a Dane Cook fan I also recommend Good Luck Chuck (though lots of sex) and Employee of the Month (though Jessica Simpson's perfomance sucks) - although I do only find Dane Cook somewhat funny (didn't care for his Tourgasm special, but there are parts to the Circle tour I loved - watch for the aethest part!)

Oh Yea! Someone else on the Dane Train! :) I love Dane, have liked him for quite some time, way before he got so famous. He is a Boston boy after all! He makes me laugh until I pee.

As for the SAG awards, the reason why they happened was because SAG has been supporting the Wirter's Guild through everything so they gave the actor's a free pass to do the show since it is totally done by actors. The Golden Globes benefits networks and studios which is why they picketed it. And probably why they will picket the Oscars.

I read this blog entry and am reminded once again why it is that I am so glad you are my friend.

Have been a frequent passenger on the Dane Train for a few years -- even gave his DVD set to my sister last year for the holidays. Glad we can giggle together :-)

Watching a friend's marriage dissolve is a very difficult thing to be a party to. I am sorry that they are going through this, but even more sorry that you are feeling a sense of sadness over it. I think we forget that our fairytales (good or bad) are read by more than just ourselves as the authors.

As far as the awards shows go, one of the reasons they were able to have the show is that ht eactors refused to cross the pickett line for the Globes. As a showing of union and brother/sister solidarity. In return, in a same kind of showing, they were not picketed for the show that is of them, for them and by them (actors, that is).

Could go on and on, but think I will call instead.

I highly recommend watching all his movies in order. Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back... I kinda stopped after that because I felt they couldn't get better. It reminds me that I need to see Clerks 2. The original is a classic.

Love the BK Lounge set. Someday, I might actually see a film of Dane's.

There is a great Everly Brothers song called "So Sad To See Good Love Go Bad." It has to be harder being in the center of the storm but disheartening from the outside in.

The Sag's went on without protest because it is a union sponsored event.

I.E. Screen Actors Guild.

Can't have a union protesting another one's event.

Other events like the Globes are industry sponsored...

Since John Travolta didn't win his Golden Globe, I don't care that it wasn't on!

You know, I've been in 9 weddings, and twice I was the backup bridesmaid for someone else who backed out. Both of those couples are now divorced. That's what they get for making me 2nd choice! ;)
