I'm terrified of spiders, absolutely terrified. The sun is setting earlier now, so it's pretty dark when I walk - so I'm seeing a lot more of them (and usually the same ones). There's this one I've been seeing that is HUGE - including his leg span, he's about as big as the palm of my hand. Tonight, I was walking along, rocking out - and suddenly, there he was. He ran out from the rocks right into my path, turned to face me, and stopped. I squealed like a scared little girl and stopped dead in my tracks. We stared each other down for a few seconds, sizing each other up (play old western gun fight music here). That little $%^@# could smell my fear, damnit - cause do you know what he did next? He charged me.
I didn't know I could run that fast.

Thankfully, I'm not freaked out by spiders but then again... I don't think that I've seen one bigger than a quarter.
Oh. My. God! The imagry was spectacular. And good for you for running, rather than just extending your leg and stepping on it. He may have wone the battle, but you are clearly the "bigger person."
That was too funny. I would have done the same thing.
Ok, I am back in my chair, I fell on the floor when I read this. I just can't imagine you afraid of a spider!!! A snake, sure...but a spider? You are so damn cute. Sorry to laugh instead of empathize but like White Keds I could visualize it and it was too funny!!!
I am terrified of bugs as well. I take my hour long walks at night and I always have crickets and roaches coming at me. I am sure I look funny screaming and running away as fast as I can as well. So basically you are not alone..
Ummm what the spider kind of a brownish gray color and slightly fuzzy looking? If so then it was just a harmless wolf spider, although those suckers get kind of big...
I'm totally freaked out by spiders and don't care if people call me a pansy over it. I never would've stuck around as long as you did...but I may have tried hitting him with a rock first...and then ran like a little girl. :-p
Ha ha...I don't like any creepy crawlies, but I generally will let spiders live if I find them in the house. Unless they're right above my bed or something! But I figure that they eat all the other annoying bugs, so they at least serve a purpose.
And since I've lived in NYC, I absolutely LOVE spiders compared to those disgusting roaches that are everywhere.
Ugh, I can't STAND spiders. don't mind bugs but spiders freak me out. And living in a place where there are so many poisionous ones doesn't help either.
