I Really Should Be Asleep

Karl and I had the night off last night. Why am I up at 7 am, I honestly have no idea. Afterall, we didn't get home until about 2:15. Ohhh, that's right. The cat. Cats are creatures of habit, it's almost like OCD with them. Actually, that's one of the things I like about most people and animals; as I too am a real creature of habit. BUT, on a cloudy Sunday morning, when I've only been asleep for about 4.5 hours, and the child is not here - I WANT TO SLEEP, dammit. But NOOOOO, it's almost like he and Madison get together and plan this - because if I'm still asleep after the time she'd usually get up, he makes damn sure I still get up. It's not even like he wants food - he always has his crunchy food available to him. Oh, and he doesn't bother Karl in the least. How messed up is that?

Last night Madison stayed with her Aunt Toni and the family - which is one of her favorite things in the world to do. So Karl and I made our way up to the Rampart Hotel and Casino for dinner. It's a strange thing about the Rampart, it's really not anything near your Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. It's the polar opposite; it's very... geriatric. Most of the patrons there are at least old enough to be my grandparents (yeah, I know...that's damn old). We just enjoy all of the restaurants there, and it's never too crowded. After dinner we wandered around and happened upon Addison's Lounge. There was this middle-aged Elvis look-alike (minus the fat and the sequined suit). He was pretty good, and could sing just about anything. He sang Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" and I forgot just how much I like Neil Diamond. Don't laugh - you know if you were there with me last night, you would have sung along with me. :) I have a feeling I'll be browsing ITunes today for some of my Neil Diamond favorites.

The kitchen is getting closer to completion! Yesterday the faucet got installed (minus the garbage disposal, that's a whole new drama, but a temporary one). The dishwasher is also fixed, so I'm happy, happy, happy!!

Hope you are all enjoying a fabulous weekend. Coffee just finished brewing, so I'm going to make my bloodshot eyes over that way.

It's about 40 minutes later, and I decided to get up. Amy's still sleeping mostly and I want her to rest and get better. Plus, the dogs are up and about now - they are worse than cats because they need to be let out and then back in.

I'm going to go get the coffee maker started.

I sympathize with you, my cat also wakes me up ridiculously early in the morning. I blame it partially on daylight savings time, I don't think the cat gets it.

What was that song by Neil Diamond...I Thank the Lord for the Nighttime? That's a great song. He had some good ones! My oldest brother was a Neil fanatic so I grew up with that music.
