Happy New Year!

I can't believe I haven't posted in a whole week! It's been pretty crazy around here...

Dad arrived last Saturday and stayed with us until yesterday morning. That was spectacular; Madison just loved spending so much time with him and I loved having him around the house. Karl enjoyed having him here too - when you're parents of a toddler and don't get out much, it's great when you have company to break up the monotony. We're so busy all the time, so it was really nice to slow down for a few days.

One of my stepsisters is back, with Madison's other two cousins. This is really fantastic, some of our family is back, including her favorite playmate - cousin Breana. These two are going to be partners in crime, I guarantee it.

Karl and I had a great time New Year's Eve. We got out of the house and drank enough coffee for a whole college dorm to stay awake. We always pay for it the next day, but well worth it. There's a bonus to being married to my best friend; I enjoy spending free time with him more than anything else.

Madison picked up a horrible cold and pink eye somewhere in all this excitement during the long weekend. Where, I have no idea - she's not been at school and she's not been around sick kids. Who knows where these things manifested, but I've got one miserable child. Dad had a chance to be there for Maddy when she really needed Papa comfort. I was supposed to be back at work today, but that didn't happen. Maddy was harfing a lung most of the night and cried a lot. Well, at least I'm getting some house cleaning done...

I started a low-carb diet on Monday. I know, it's so cliche with the new year and all. It's not a New Year's resolution to get fit - it's a goal. I'd run over a little old lady for a piece of bread and a banana right now... but at the fifth day I am past being grouchy (the whole house appreciates that).

Hope it's been a good week and a fabulous start to the New Year for everyone. What goals do you have for this next year (or resolutions if you prefer)?

I'm with you on the whole diet thing, I need to start exercising. I did the Atkin's diet before my wedding, lost 35 pounds in two and a half months and looked fabulous. But it was so hard...too hard for me to try that again. Power to you!

Happy New Year. Glad you enjoyed Dad. Any chance he is moving home soon?

Sorry to hear about the wee one. Pink eye stinks as an adult, I cannot imagine how her sweet self must be feeling.

Good luck on the diet thing -- I remember how well it worked for you last time, so I am all for your success!

Happy New Year!

My goal for the new year is to get back in the gym 3-4 days a week with either a pilates or spin class thrown in for good measure.

Another goal of ours is to start planning for the future. We have some breathing room now and are beyond the big ticket items of the wedding and the holidays, so why not?
