Letting Go

Some of you may remember the Beanie Baby craze in the mid-late 90's. I am going to admit it - I was one of those caught up in the craze; I probably had at some point somewhere around 150-200 of them! About two years ago I took almost half and gave them to a local children's crisis unit, then the rest were put away in a bin in Madison's closet... and I finally brought them out today, removed the tags (for shame!) and gave them to her to play with. I haven't parted with any of the bears; I'm still holding on to them! Oh, and I might as well confess, there are about 10 with sentimental value that will take awhile longer to let go of (such as the unicorn you see above). How sad, huh?! In hindsight, why did anyone give in to this crazy notion that they were worth hundreds of dollars? They're STUFFED ANIMALS. At least I never paid more than $7.95 for any one beanie baby, right?

Have a great weekend!

I always thought this craze was so funny! And then I remember that I collect shot glasses and pens.

I still have mine, about 200! I keep them for sentimental sake I guess, I haven't checked lately to see what they are worth but I would have guess...not much! lol

I can't say very much, since I have a collection of stuffed Winnie the Poohs. He is dressed up for all occasions and every holiday. I am looking at them right now going.. what am I doing with all of these?

My mother has pretty much cured me of my collection stuff. BUT, I do still have my extensive collection of harlequin masks and dolls and parafernalia. Not sure what I will do with it, but I just cannot bring myself to get rid of it.

Madison will enjoy those things far more than you will by having them in a box. Good for you!

Amanda - we all have something, huh?

Marti - thanks for stopping by! I'm definitely going to stop by your own blog and say hello!

Teri - I have another friend who collects those too. I have one - Pooh dressed in a bee suit. Cute as can be!

Amy: I imagine you have been seriously cured. I'm surprised you didn't poke fun at me actually collecting and holding on to something, you know so well how I like to throw everything out....LOL

We have about 50 of them, mostly my daughter's. I have 3 in my car, and a couple others here and there. I think they are cute. Ours have been played with, and the tags are off ... we are naughty !!
Hope you are having a great week.
Take care, Meow

If they were that valued, there would have been a Beanie Baby brokerage but I know where you are coming from. I knew a girl that was really into it and I couldn't go with her to stores because if they had a bin full of them, she'd go through all of them to make sure that she wouldn't miss out on one. Very thoughtful of you to give those to the children's unit. B) Also to share them with Maddy.
