Happy Birthday MTV!

Since I am part of the original MTV generation - I would be remiss not to publicly wish MTV a happy 25th birthday. I'm a little disappointed but not surprised MTV is not even going to mention their age tomorrow, let alone celebrate - but I'll be watching VH1 Classic's re-air of the first day on MTV. Fortunately for me I'll be off taking care of some things tomorrow, so I will have time to briefly become the couch potato MTV made of me in 1982 (As you may know, MTV wasn't widespread when it debuted in 1981). I am not going to spew anymore facts, as most of the news portals are doing that for me... I'm just glad that 25 years later we now have a myriad of music television stations; browsing through them all you might just find a music video still in there.

I WAS THERE! I've probably said this before but I'll say it again. My boyfriend, brother and I waited WEEKS for the debut of MTV and were sitting on the sofa when it first jumped on screen. Lots of changes since then, it's not really MV and more!

I wish MTV still played music videos. And you used to be able to find them on VH-1 too but they seemed to have disappeared from their rotation as well unless you are up at 3 AM and can watch the one hour they actually play music.

Babara: Sweeeet, you saw it!

vegas princess: Yeah, MTV and VH1 have changed so much... I find myself watching VH1 Classic a LOT, they still have videos.

JJ: Yeah, I hear ya there. I wasn't even 11 yet when they made their debut in 1981...

It won't be too long until they remove the videos from VH-1 Classic also and ruin the only thing that I'll watch out of MTV, MTV2 and VH-1. Remember when VH-1 meant video hits one... even though they always played more Michael Bolton than Michael Jackson. Music videos revolutionized the way people looked at songs and bands forever changing the concept of mainstream pop music. For this, I wish MTV a happy birthday. I just wish that it didn't have to develop it's own personality after the awkward teens and now into adulthood.
