Fun Friday

This morning Madison and I had breakfast with my Dad, a small bribery to get me to fix his computer. A few clicks here, a few clicks there, a few clicks everywhere later, and all is well. My Dad lives about 30 minutes from our house, and I knew we were cutting it close by leaving at 11:15. See, there's this really small nap window. If I miss it, I'm in trouble. We get on the road, portable DVD player playing Elmo's World, and she's into it. I might get lucky! She's singing, and talking to Elmo - then suddenly, silence. Uhh ohh. She got that 25 minute catnap on the way, and she's ready for round two when we arrive home.

At about 12:30, I try to put her down for a nap. "Madison," I say, "It's time for your nap. Get some sleep, so you'll have lots of energy to play this afternoon." She nods her head in agreement. I leave the room, and about 15 minutes later, I hear "Mommy...Mommmmmyyyyy.... MOMMY!" After several attempts over the next 45 minutes, it appears I missed my window.

The afternoon had its moments, as any parent of a tired toddler will understand. But we're ready for a weekend of birthday celebrations, and Madison will be two years old on Sunday. I can't believe it. It was only yesterday she was this sleeping, eating, diaper-filling blob who depended solely on others. She is now a very active, independent, loving little girl. Time flies. Everyone told us in the beginning how fast they grow up, they weren't kidding.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

I will never in my whole life forget the first time I held that baby burrito. She sure is amazing and I thank you for allowing me to share with you this adventure you call parenthood. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCESS MADISON!

Naps! Always a challenge and always disappointing to miss the window...I loved the little break I'd get when my son was napping. Take lots of party photos.

Happy Birthday to a sweet 2 year old!

I find it amazing when you find windows in your life where things find a way of working. I miss naps, myself. A belated happy birthday, Maddy!
