Life before motherhood:
Late nights with friends
Last minute travel plans for the weekend
Shopping - for me!
Well-earned hangovers
Money to burn
Sleeping in
Life after motherhood:
Late nights nursing a sick child
Travel as far as the nearest park for the weekend
Shopping - for her!
Hangovers? I don't have time for those
Empty bank account
No sleep
And you know what? I wouldn't trade a single minute of it. I've had my fun, I've lived life on the edge. Now, watching her play, listening to her laugh and being there for her is all I need. Don't get me wrong - down time is lovely, and necessary! But I'm so happy we made the decision to be parents.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you Mommies out there. It's a damn hard job, but in the big picture, definitely not a thankless one.

So well put! I wouldn't trade it back for the "old days" either. I'm only a few years away from an empty nest - so that will be interesting.
You are a wonderful mother and Madison is blessed to have you!
I fully agree with you, very well said.
I hope you had a wonderful Mothers Day.
Take care, Meow
Yeah, even now I can only drink a half a beer for my buzz so it's not the same.
Hope you had a Happy Mother's Day Lora!
Barbara: Are you already making travel plans abroad? LOL I am so far from the empty nest that it's scary (at my age!). Thank you so much for the kind words and the smile.
Meow: I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, too!
Jas: Yeah, I'm a pretty cheap date - one drink and I'm ready for sleep.
Ken: Thank you!
Happy Mother's Day hon. B)
True, sounds so discouraging when one is not a mother, but once we are the realities of motherhood, even the non-so-glamorous ones, are makes us laugh and treasure motherhood even more. Hope you had a great mother-s day.
Hope you enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day! (Sorry I'm late on this).
