Wow, that was fast

Karl called me yesterday and told me he was going to leave his new job. Apparently he walked in to a lot of conflicts and not a lot of resolutions, and there was some resentment toward his payrate. Sooooo, he called me realizing he'd made a mistake and was going back to his old job. At least he worked out all the drama and all the details before calling me. He's just damn lucky his old boss really likes him - they've called it a "leave of absence" and won't miss a beat on seniority, vacation, pay rate, etc. Oh, and he worked out hours to still be home for dinner. He hadn't realized what a difference that would make for Madison, and doesn't want to lose it. How can I be angry with that? It's so funny how couples get in this zone after being together a long time. He knows exactly what will stress me out and does damage control long before the storm hits me; I know exactly how he deals with work and have learned he will never let me down, so why freak out about it.

So who's going to write their ticket home on American Idol tonight? I don't know what the theme for this week is.

I have been married for 11 years. Damage control is 2nd nature to my husband. It is so cool how perfectly trained he is.

I like Karl, he's a good and smart guy. I think that's wonderful that he saw the value in being home for dinner with his girls.

Ken is still learning to not only do damage control, but how to NOT ignite an issue further once the damage is done. But I am looking forward to our longevity wherein he will learn those valuable lessons, as will I.

Good for Karl on being a present and accounted for member of your family. I LOVE him!

I hate to say it, but I think Elliot is going home.

Well, it sucks that he walked into all that madness, but thankfully he's got a way out and back to where he was (with no consequences, even better). It's awesome that he'll be able to be home at night with the ladies at night still too.

I'll fess up. Yes, I'm still learning to do the damage control and not to piss Amy off any further, but I am getting better...

That being said, I'm glad that Karl is going to be able to keep the benefits of both jobs. While money helps, it's not always about money.

Oh, and I think Elliot's number is up tonight. I just think that Katherine's first two songs were just that much better. Still wish it were Taylor going home though...

I've given up on AI. After Chris left, I figured no one knew what the hell they were doing. I don't think any of the remaining three are albumworthy.

Cyndi: I hear that!

Barbara: Thanks. I am glad he found it to be a priority too, and I'm glad he's listening when sometimes I don't know that he is.

Amy: You'll both get there... learning what to just leave alone and what to resolve before burdening the other. I don't know about Elliot going home. He was on his game last night. Although Katharine was fantastic with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", the others weren't on and the judges seem to have fallen out of love with her. Having said that - I thought she was gone last week and you were right!

Nik: Yes, mistakes without consequences. Bonus!

Ken: Like I said to Amy, you'll both learn. It's not something any of us are born with. I have decided I am really not jazzed with any of the three contestants left at AI, but Taylor is my favorite. I guess it's really him I like more than anything. Although Elliot's rendition of "Open Arms" last night gave me the warm fuzzies. But don't tell anyone. I'll deny it!

Jas: Awwww - you gave up? You don't wanna see the end? I do agree, to have voted Chris off was crazy.

I dunno. I don't give much of a dang about the other three, so... It's gone the way of Survivor for me!

That's cool that he realizes how important having dinner together as a family is. B) Better yet, that he knows how to take a bad judgement of his and attempt to fix it without stressing you out.
