Uh oh

Nothing says "It's going to be a good day" like an antivirus software upgrade gone awry in a business setting. If you need me today, I'll be under my desk.

Being a PC tech myself, I know what those days are like. That's why God invented fetal positions!

Wow. That bites. Sounds almost bad as a cyclone in South India in my world...

Hope you packed a lunch because you may be down there awhile. B)

Was it a pushout problem, or did they not give you a chance to try it out first?

Jas: Yup, I've been in the fetal position for the last couple of days. :)

Ken: Mmmm. Yeah, it could have been that bad, but thankfully it wasn't.

Martin: Yup, enjoyed my PB&J from the darkness under there today. :)

Matt: Yeah, a remote client install. Symantec likes to provide these fabulous tools to make it easy, then says "Oh, by the way, here's what might happen" after you find an error. The upgrade disabled auto-protect on some clients (and completely blew out NAV on a few others), but the system center gives no indication of an issue. So either you touch each machine or try to rely on the end users to notify you after sending an email describing what they might or might not see. Kind of a crap-shoot, but we have hundreds and hundreds of computers (some in very remote/rural areas). What sucks is we didn't see this in a test setting - but thankfully the problem seems to be limited to about 10% of them (and the fix is simple). I think tomorrow I just may make it from under my desk.

OMFG, we're having the very same problem here where I work. It's almost 5am and I'm just now able to get onto my computer (been here since midnight). I'm surrounded by 7 computers and all of them are fubarred, big time right now. Makes me angry, cuz I'm the one who was made to do the whole anti-virus update(pushing it thru and what not), even tho I know it's not my fault.
Hopefully it turned out okay for you and nobody found your hiding spot.
