Traffic Rant

For the idiots in rush hour traffic who feel it's more important to be in the fast lane than to get out of the way for an ambulance and a fire truck: If it were your Momma in need of immediate medical attention at the scene of an accident, you'd damn sure better hope everyone out there has more courtesy than you.

I actually witnessed this today. A horrible accident going South on the 95, and no one paying attention to the emergency vehicles trying to get there. I can't believe these are some of the people I probably work with, do business with, and undoubtedly share a community with. This, my friends, is one of my largest pet peeves.

On my ending with a good note, I got a fabulous postcard today in the mail from Meow - all the way from Melbourne, Australia. I'm going to scan it in and post it for you all to see. What a cool thing to find in my mailbox today!

You and I are on the same page with this one. I get so pissed when I see those people, makes me wanna ram them and then see how long it takes for someone to respond to their call for help. I also can't stand people who have their cell phones on in hospitals or people who don't get over into the farther lane when cops have someone pulled over. I know that there are times when you just can't get over, but there are so many people who just don't care.

Can't wait to see your postcard from Meow.

Could not agree with you more, Loo. Do you pull over even when the flashing lights are coming from the opposite direction? I do. Silly? Maybe, but it makes me feel better. You just never know. But sitting in traffic, on the verge of being Los Angeles worthy, is frustrating enough to make me hyper sensitive to all things annoying -- ambulance ignorers and graffiti alike. Can you tell the graffiti is still under my skin?

I always try to pull over when I see emergency vehicles coming from either side when on local streets, and in my direction on the freeways.

People are getting more and more rude. Between people on their cell phones, people driving like idiots and the like I find myself getting more and more aggrevated.

You know, you can have the sweetest apple pie baking, hair-in-a-bun wearing, little old lady being grandma type that wouldn't hurt a mosquito if it landed on her arm. But when she gets behind the wheel of a car, she instantly turns into a sadistic, angry, gesturing maniac.

I think it's human nature, save the few of us who somehow remove ourselves from that tendency. I say this because it happense ALL THE TIME!

That sure is a cool postcard! Mine to you is not quite in the mail cause I want to find a good one.

I agree with your traffic rant. UGH! WHAT is wrong with people?????

Add me as another who agrees with your rant.
On the flip side my pet peeve is police cars and cycles. I work near a police station and I have witnessed many times the cops on their way back to the station flashing their lights and sirens just to get through a red light, then to continue normally until the next traffic light when the sirens come on again.

Nik: People with cell phones on in hospitals are truly annoying. It is sad so many just don't care, isn't it.

Amy: I pull over when flashing lights are coming from the other direction as well. You never really know when they might be coming right at you!

Ken: Rudeness is plenty rampant, I agree.

Jas: I'm sure I'm going to be one of those old ladies driving like mad and giving everyone the bird. But I'll still pull over for flashing lights!

Barbara: Be sure to get me your address too, I'd love to get a postcard into your mailbox too. :)

Lily: I, too, see cops abusing the emergency lights to get through red lights and traffic congestion. Not cool.

I think I witnessed the accident you are talking about. I had to stay and give the police a statement. I remember sitting there hearing the ambulance sirens but it seemed to take forever to get to us. People here are so stupid and self-centered when they drive, I've never seen anything like it.

Check out my post about my drive into work today...it's related!

I'm still waiting for the new car stereo's that cut out when a siren is near and tell you to "Move Your Ass Over!!" I wouldn't mind that kind of technological advancement.
