Now that's my kind of crack!

Ahhh.... the Starbucks frappuccino, with an extra shot of espresso. This is my kind of crack, and it's not the cheap stuff! I hear all the wisecracks about Starbucks, and how overpriced they are, and they're all right. HOWEVER, there are 4 billion of us drinking this stuff, some of us every f-ing day. Thankfully my crack... er.. Starbucks habit is only an occasional one.

Do you think that some 40 years from now we'll be seeing activist commercials about how addictive frappuccinos are? Do you think they'll have surgeon general warnings on them by the time our kids/grandkids grow up?

Definitely. Anything the masses enjoy will be highly scrutinized. I do think they will stop short of banning it or putting stickers on the cups.

OMG. I am a bona fide Starbucks addict. When I worked in an office, I would stop once a day for a mocha. I then went on a cost/calorie counting kick and limited this to a non-fat latte on Fridays, and made regular coffee at home. I am so bad, that I had a $120 Starbucks card six weeks ago that is now down to about $35 thanks to my new-found Caramel Macchiato addiction.

There are always new studies about how products either cause or reduce the risk of cancer. It just goes to show that you can make any study viable.

All I know is my day goes a whole lot easier after I've downed my grande Non-fat White Chocolate Mocha with whip...you are right, it is like crack!!

I just hate standing in line so I buy my own and brew it here in the office.
Oh no - is that kind of like having a meth lab? I hope not.

Seriously, I do love the Fraps but only indulge every now and then. I have many other "addictions" to make up for it.

I don't visit Starbucks much because I don't like coffee but I love their double chocolate chip frappuchinos. There is one in our hospital and we can charge our purchase to our badge and it will be taken out of our next paycheck. Do you know how easy it is to overspend with such a system?

Martin: You're right, it's all going to kill us one way or another, and someone must warn us!

Ken: Wow you are a Starbucks addict. Should we start a Starbucks Anonymous? Maybe there's one already out there.

Amanda: I'm going to have to try one of those non-fat white chocolate mochas. It sure sounds delicious. Non-fat crack, the best kind!

Barbara: You made me choke on my water with the meth-lab comment. :) I hate standing in line too, which is why I only visit Starbucks with a drive-thru. Waiting with my Sirius radio makes it easier.

Heather: I would be in big trouble with a drink now, pay later system!

My dad ribs me constantly cuz I seriously go through withdrawals if I don't get my Starbucks. I totally agree it is silly to spend that much for a cup of coffee, but it's too damn good not to. I've even taken to the frappuccino's you get in gas station coolers, cuz Starbuck's isn't open when I go to work. They're not as good, but it's a fix! lol They need to make a 24 hour one around me.
Now I'm jonesing.... hehe

As much as I love Starbucks, I really love the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf better. You should check it out. I think the closest one is either in Aliante or on Lake Mead between Rainbow and Buffalo.

Peets is starting to make a name for itself. They're expanding eastward, last time I checked and had plans to do as much business as Starbucks if they can! Li'l stock tip for ya!

I predict that Coffee will be just as hated in the public eye as cigarettes in fifty years, and they'll have newscasts showing the "good ol' days" (ie: today) where there were CHAINS of stores for coffee drinkers! What the hell were we all thinking, they'll say!

We already know that that caffeine is addictive. You may see more and more reports about how full of empty calories these frappuccinos are. That will most likely route for them to take.
I do not drink coffee, don't like the smell or taste of it. They do make those drinks look appetizing though.

Nik: I've had those fraps in a jar too - I agree, not as good, but good for a fix.

Teri: I'm going to have to check that place out!

Jas: Welcome back! Peets... hmmm, I wonder if we'll have one of those soon. Seems I've heard of it.

Lily: It's great you don't like the taste or smell of coffee. I can't start my day without it. Now that's true addiction.
