Strange Days

Had kind of a weird day...

I received a call from my alarm company stating that the alarm in my house was going off, and should they call the police? It was only the living room alarm... no doors, so I opted to go home and inspect myself, first. I was running through everything that would probably be gone on my way home, and hoping Dallas didn't get out, and then my mind went into overdrive. When had I backed up last? When did I erase temp files last? Damn I should have off-site backup storage. What if they got away with all my storage? I am such a geek! Thankfully it was a false alarm, and Dallas hasn't set that alarm off since about 2002, so unless he's learned some new acrobatics, I can't explain it.

Then I was off to Target to return my pretty pink bike. They'd put it together, and poorly... and to top it off the frame was bent. Obviously I was so blinded by the pretty pink-ness of the cruiser that I didn't do the full once over well enough, before purchasing the bike. The lady at the counter started the conversation off poorly, she muttered something about not letting me exchange or refund a bicycle, but she called her supervisor who just told her to give my money back. The supervisor could readily see there was a problem with the bike, and that it hadn't been on the road at all. Another supervisor came to the counter and argued I couldn't get a refund OR an exchange - that the bike had to be repaired. This ruffled the feathers of the first supervisor, who asked the lady at the register to ignore her and give me the refund anyway. Here I was prepared to argue my case and dig my heels in, and instead I got to watch the fur fly. In the end, I did get a refund, and decided not to look elsewhere for a bicycle. I'm thinking more of a blue this time...

Before I knew it, it was 4:00 today. The day went so fast, so much left undone. In the end it was a pretty good day, as all ended on a good note, and I was wearing a smile pretty much the whole day. I get to go to Pahrump for work tomorrow. No complaints, it has been at least a month since I had to go out there, so I'm totally up for a road trip. Getting out the office is never, ever a bad thing, my friends!

Have your alarm company come out and do a diagnostic test. COuld be one of your sensors going bad. Better to get it checked out now. :)

Your poor pink bike! But how funny they started arguing over your return.

No pink bike? Awww, sorry.

I would suggest buying a bike from Sports Authority. I use to work for them many years ago and they took back EVERYTHING within 90 days...even running shoes that were obviously worn for 89 days previously but were somehow "defective" :)

I got mine from Sports Authority, too. No problems!

Bummer about the bike. But I am glad you got your money back!

Sorry to hear about the bike issues, at least you got your money back. What i don't get about people that work retail, like the initial person you spoke to - is they act as if THEY are the ones losing money if they refund your bike.. it's like, "JUST CALL THE DARN SUPERVISOR like you are trained to do!"

I once had a guy tell me that a cell phone I bought was too much trouble to refund, and they 'they' don't even make money selling that model... to which I replied.. "when have you EVER made money directly off of anything that is sold in this store?!" At that point he threw the phone abruptly into a bin.. seems he really cared about that product huh? It was a Sam Goody's too! lol... phreaks.

Ending the day with a smile is always good!
