No Walking For You! Come Back, One Year!

Sunday night was a really windy night in the Las Vegas valley, so instead of talking myself into skipping my workout all together, I decided to go to one of my backup plans - a workout video I have. It's basically a walking video that does an all-body workout and if you do the whole video, it's equivalent to a four-mile walk. So I did three miles into the video, as that's what I'm normally walking these days. Monday morning I got up and my calves were pretty tight. Not my arms or my abs - but something I work out every single day with my walks. So this video obviously touches muscles I'm not using so much, I figure. Monday night I am still sore, so I decide it would be a good idea to stretch them with what made them tight in the first place, and I do the workout video again.

This morning I got out of bed and my calves said "WTF, we are on strike!!"

I was pretty tender all day. Walking up and down stairs was painful. Not a pulled muscle pain, just a damn good workout pain. So tonight I took a walk - no big inclines, no horse trails... just a pretty flat three miles. About halfway in the calves got stretched enough and stopped hurting, and I was distracted by the absolutely gorgeous weather. Hopefully in the morning my calves will have forgiven me and won't yell at me like the Soup Nazi again.

You need robot legs.

Sounds like you need to alternate workouts. Maybe some more videos too, and an exercise bike.

Teleolurian: That's an awesome idea. Who'd need liposuction if we could do that?

Joe: Yeah, I really do. I do get to hike sometimes but not often enough to change it up, so I'm just changing my path a lot. Still, I'm only walking.

Walk less, drink (insert favorite beverage here) more.
