Could I?

Thanks to everyone who responded to my hot-but-not-so-bright significant other question. I'm a little surprised I didn't get responses from any men who'd be completely okay with the vacant-minded trophy wife...but considering there are only three male responses, there's not much variety. I also have to add - Jas, thanks for the honest, male-perspective experience regarding this issue. :)

I have been on a lot of first dates in my life, and if there were all looks and no brains, there was usually never a second date. I believe that physical attraction is often what brings two people together in the first place, but personally, an intellectual connection is what seals the deal. Looks fade, so you'd better be able to hold a conversation in the end. So no... I couldn't maintain a relationship with someone who was hot but blew nothing but air from the brain. I find it too un-sexy to even consider. Yes, this holds even if he looks exactly like John Cusack. :)

I think Barbara said it best: "...my definition is not really intellect, its more of an attitude of being curious about life, learning all the time, being able to talk about lots of different subjects, passionate about his beliefs no matter what they are." That, my friends, is definitely sexy.

Glad you liked that definition.

I know there are guys with trophy wives out there, but I think your reading audience is made up of more down-to-earth, "intelligent" types :)

Soprry I didn't get in there, but I vote for the brains too. I think the funniest TV show is the Girls Next Door. I just can't understand (well, I guess there are two reasons apiece) why an intelligent guy like Hef keeps those blonds around.
