American Idol Review

Haley Scarnato: I've been trying to figure out who she sounds like, and it finally came to me. She sounds just like Susan Sarandon in "Rocky Horror Picture Show". All I could think about as I watched her sing tonight was Susan singing "Touch-a touch-a touch me, I wanna be dirty...". It wasn't a bad performance at all, but she's not in my top 3.

Chris Richardson: Come on, tell me this guy doesn't sound exactly like Justin Timberlake. If I close my eyes, I can't tell the difference. He did a really good job tonight - but also not in my top 3. I just can't figure out what genre he belongs to.

Stephanie Edwards: I like Dusty Springfield's music, but this wasn't the right choice for Stephanie. She's kind of forgettable at this point. Simon called it cabaret, and I'd have to agree. The song was way too old for her, and she didn't mold it to her style.

Blake Lewis: I like Blake Lewis, and I think he'd sell some serious albums. He did a fantastic job with "Time of the Season". I, however, want to hear him sing just once without beat-boxing. It gets old. I'm not sure where he fits on my list, perhaps my top 5?

Lakisha Jones: She should have sung "You Are My World" instead of "Diamonds are Forever". Karl thought it sounded too much like The Love Boat theme song, even if it was the theme to a Bond movie, and I agreed. She's been in my top 3, cause that girl can sing. But I'm not sure she was this week.

Phil Stacey: I am pretty indifferent about this guy. He's likable, don't get me wrong. Perhaps it's because I don't care much for the song "Tobacco Road". He did a good job, but it didn't stand out at all.

Jordin Sparks: She nailed it tonight. I can't even remember the name of the song or who orginally sang it, but I definitely will remember her performance. She's coming into her own in this competition. I just wonder what genre she fits in, as well.

Sanjaya Malakar: He's just awful, and doesn't belong here. He tried his best to rock it out this time, and it wasn't believable at all! The audience gave only a courtesy clap - and Simon was the only one brutally honest (which I love about Simon).

Gina Glocksen: I don't think she has the strongest voice here, but she's one of my favorites. I love, love, love her hair, and I like her rock image. I like that I know exactly what genre she fits in. She did a fantastic job with "Paint It Black". She did the Rolling Stones' song justice, and I enjoyed it, regardless of ow the judges slammed her.

Chris Sligh: He's also one of my favorites. This guy can sing!! My only concern is, will he sell albums? I think I can see his genre, adult contemporary. You know, James Blunt, The Fray, Cold Play kind of stuff. He did an amazing job tonight - and I hope I'm hearing him sing for weeks...

Melinda Doolittle: She is an incredible performer - her timidity disappears as soon as she hits the stage, and she has an absolutely beautiful voice. She has a real chance to go all the way. I can't even remember the song she sang - but that's only because it's not a genre I'd go out looking for. She's gonna get a recording contract either way, I guarantee it.
