A Weekend About Families

Weekend Update, family style. Saturday I attended a baby shower for Teri - I am looking forward to meeting little Jacob!

Sunday we spent a lot of the day with my Dad, Stepmom and niece Breana. Breana is almost exactly one year older than Madison, and they are great friends. We had quite a time at the park, then everyone came back to our house for movies and pizza. Breana and her family are moving away with my Dad, and I'm so sad for Madison; with this move all of her cousins will now be in other states. It was something I grew up with and obviously lived through, but I was hoping for a different life for Madison. When I'm out of denial about all this, I'll talk about it a bit more.

Hope you all had as great a weekend as we did (I even got sleep, whooohooo).

Check the flickr link for more park pictures from today with Madison and Breana. Next weekend it's the Disney Magic Show with Breana!

Which park are you at? We are going to the Disney show on Sunday.

Should Amy and I have any kids, they won't grow up with their biological cousins unless my sister and her husband move here, which is unlikely. Amy's nieces and nephews are all older, too. It make me a little sad - all my cousins were substantially older. I guess it's good they'll have their cousins Jacob and Madison to grow up with!

I was so glad you were at my shower! Thank you again for everything. I keep playing with the piano. I am driving Lloyd crazy with it :)

I didn't grow up with any cousins so I know how you feel.
People think you and I are related anyway, so Jacob and Madison might as well be cousins. Give him a few years to catch up and I am sure they will have some fun :)

Madison is getting cuter by the day! She'll be off the charts soon. Sad about Breana moving away...that's tough. I bet as she gets older she will make some really great friends.

Sounds like a fun weekend. Mine was fine - nothing noteworthy to report!

Congrats on the sleep over the weekend! woot
The pix of the girls at the park look great and they look like they're having so much fun. That park looks really cool too. I like all the bright colors. be sure to tell about the Disney Magic Show, sounds like good times.

Angel: Always welcoming angels... we can always use more in our lives.

Cyndi: It's Centennial Hills park, do you know where that is?

Ken: Not having family around is going to be very sad. It is times like this you are more thankful for friends and little friends. :)

Teri: You're just getting Lloyd ready for the fun Jacob will have with that piano. LOL I can't wait until Jacob and Madison get to be playmates!

Meow: Hope you are having a great week too!

Barbara: I am so sad Breana is leaving. I know Madison will make friends soon enough all by herself... you're absolutely right. I'm glad you had a good weekend!

Nik: LOL, I'm really good at denial. I'll be sure to give a full report on the Disney show!

Your post reaffirms for me that family comes in all shapes and sizes. While I am very sad for your Dad moving and Madison missing out on growing up with her cousins, I am pleased to read that you have another family, or two, ready and waiting to share time and adventures with you.

I am looking forward to helping pick up the slack of missing aunts, and when Ken and I make it happen, Madison can be a big cousin to play with.

But I want to acknowledge your sadness ... I know it is tough and I am sorry that they are going.

I totally understand the out-of-state cousins deal. My parents decided it when they moved to Nevada. I was always happy to see my cousins from California, Alaska and Idaho but I do wonder what it'd have been like having more family here in my youth.

Great photos. B)
