Here I Go, Mommy Blogging Again

So much of the time this place ends up being total Mommy Blog material. For that, I am sorry. What the hell did I talk about before I was a mother? I can hardly remember. I still have so many of the same interests - music, entertainment, television - but how did I fill time talking with friends about all that? And the friends without children - why do you still talk to me? I mean, I must be one of the most boring people on the face of the planet by now. :)

Our weekend was pretty darn good - thanks to everyone for the well-wishes on our anniversary. The Disney Magic show rocked! They were confiscating cameras so I didn't get any pictures, but she had popcorn and cotton candy for the first time... We got her all juiced up and sent her home to her grandparents. LOL! We had a seriously good night out and Madison had so much fun with the family. Her Aunt turned it into a slumber-party-type evening, so Maddy and her cousin Breana had a blast. I've posted some pictures but not all - I'll eventually get around to it. Madison has a bit of a cold, and I seem to be developing symptoms as we speak. Did you know the average toddler has around 8-10 colds a season, and if they're in daycare, it can be 12?! No wonder I was dreading the end of summer.

I still haven't watched last week's Studio 60 let alone last night's. I'm seriously irritated about that, too. I am so glad I don't have a TiVo - because if I had a machine telling me what I should watch on TOP OF what I already don't have time to watch, my control freak issues might just send me over the edge.

Back to hell... er work. Happy Tuesday!

Don't apologize for mommy blogging. Your daughter's a big part of your life, so be a mom and talk about mommy stuff as much as you want. Before you were a mom though, you prolly had to listen to all of your friends tell you all of their mommy stories. ;) So, all's fair.
Glad your weekend went well. I would have loved to see the Disney Magic Show, wonder if they'll have anything near me. Just one question, why have you waited so long to let your daughter enjoy cotton candy, are you nuts? j/k
Here's wishing a bubble around you and Madison and hoping like hell you don't get sick/cold/whatever. How's hell going this week? lmao

I wouldn't hit on TiVo. Not only is it the best invention in history it also offers parents a great free service to keep the children's shows apart from yours. Just set up KidZone (http://www.tivo.com/1.2.17.asp) (again, it's free) and it will record the shows you pick for the kids in a totally separate part of the machine - locking them out of the grown-up stuff you record as well as all live programming. It even gives you lists of recommendations from various child advocacy groups so you don't miss any of the good stuff.

Actually, the 'mommy blogging' isn't as bad as you think. The little pictures of Madison make it all worthwhile. B)

When it comes to the Tivo, I actually like letting some shows stockpile so I can watch 2 or 3 at a time (given that I have put enough time aside.) I call it 'Spring cleaning.'

We are starting to get quite the collection of shows. Normally, it would be the sort of thing for a "rainy day" but that doesn't happen here, so usually early weekend mornings work for us.

I enjoy your mommy blogs! It is a fresh take on a life I will someday have myself. Never apologize!!

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. It is always fun to have some time to yourself but it is good that you did something with Madison too.

You are so funny and cute! I love hearing about Maddy because:
1. She's adorable
2. Its fun to hear a mom talk about her little girl
3. It reminds me of the days when Keven was little!

This is your blog and you can talk about her all you want (as long as you keep posting photos too ;)

Sounds like you all had a great time! It sad that her cousin is moving away - that's happening soon right?

Enjoy your shows!!!!

I LOVE the mommy dialogues, please do not stop them or apologize for them.

As far as the DVR... I still have not watched any of the episodes of Brothers and Sisters that we recorded, and we are constantly at least one week behind Studio 60. It is aggravating and I cannot wait to collapse in front of a tv and catch up.

orNik: If the Disney show comes your way, definitely take the nephews, I think Donovan would enjoy it even though he's older.

Anonymous: Heyyyyy now, no big deal with TiVo. I'm sure it's a beautiful thing, I just don't have enough time to watch TV as it is. :) Perhaps when my daughter is older and is helping to make her own TV decisions, I'll get into it.

Martin: The stockpiling makes me a little anxious, because I start to wonder if we'll ever get caught up.

Ken: I bet you'll have more time for tv in about ohhhh, 3 or 4 weeks!

VP: Thanks, and it was a good time to unwind and enjoy for awhile.

Barbara: You are always so kind! Yes, the move happens in about 3 weeks. :(

Amy: I'm stil one week behind Studio 60 too, we caught one episode last night. There are so many shows we just ignored the pilots for fear we'd never have time for them later.
