News briefs - Lora Style

I'm in TV premier heaven! Vegas Princess asked in my last post if I got to see Studio 60 yet, and I haven't - but I heard it's really good!! I enjoyed the new show The Class last night - hilarious, even if it did remind me of Friends a lot (meaning, not such a new idea). How I Met Your Mother (I hope Lily comes back) and The New Adventures of Old Christine delivered! I am looking forward to the rest of the week's new adventures...

Why is the arrest of Willie Nelson newsworthy? Like anyone didn't know this guy would have a big, fat sack on his bus?!

Right now we're watching a Steve Irwin tribute on Animal Planet. The animal kingdom certainly lost a champion. I'm getting all teary-eyed watching this... he will certainly be missed.

Now I know Anna Nicole Smith is a nutcase - but can the media leave her alone for just a little bit, so she can grieve her son?! Can you imagine your oldest child dying suddenly, just as your baby is born? I saw a headline today noting she will pocket $300k by his death. Is that news?! It's disgusting, people.

I read they found that newborn who was abducted in Missouri. Thank goodness her Mom lived through the ordeal, and the baby girl is healthy. Sometimes things turn out alright in our often sad and twisted world.

Justin Timberlake is hosting the Europe MTV Music Awards on November 2. We get Jack Black, and they get the hotness of Justin?! Not fair.

There's going to be a Vegas Grand Prix through downtown Las Vegas in April 2007. Easter Sunday, to be exact. It's going to be uh... interesting. We've not seen anything like this since the Mint 400, right? This is on a much grander scale - hopefully it will be a success. It's good for downtown business, and good for Las Vegas as a whole. Personally I don't like the Grand Prix, but I'd go check it out.

It's bedtime, have a good one!

3 words for you... STUDIO 60 ROCKS!

I really enjoyed The Class and How I Met Your Mother too. Lily did pop her face through the window as the show closed. She HAS to come back. I am looking froward to seeing what the dynamic will be when she returns full fledged.

You are going to have to explain the Grand Prix thing to me, please.

I thought the class was ok, not great, but had some real funny moments. I'll catch it a few more times to see how it pans out.

I really enjoyed Studio 60, hopefuly in the coming weeks it will continue to keep my attention.

I really like Old Christine, for me her brother and the two school moms are always spot on in their delivery.

OH MY GOD. Studio 60 is FANTASTIC. I don't think I took a breath during much of the show it was that captivating. The Class was cute, How I Met Your Mother was hilarious. It will be interesting how the new Marshall-Lily dynamic plays out. Two and a Half Men was funny too.

WATCH STUDIO 60! That is a definite must-watch.

Kidnapped premieres tonight! Even if it sucks, I will continue to watch it just for Jeremy Sisto.

BBSW and I watched the Steve Irwin Tribute last night and we were both crying our eyes out.

We loved watching his shows.

How I Met Your Mother was great and the cast seemed to go through a makeover because Ted and Lily and Robin really looked good! It will be interesting to see how the dynamic changes when Lily returns for good. And I LOVED barney's "killing" himself routines!

The Amazing Race was good. They have a good group of people this year and already the tensions are flowing. I haven't really decided if Survivor is going to be good, but I guess we'll see after the next episode tomorrow night.

Studio 60...was AMAZING!! Lora, you MUST watch!! I was cracking up and it was so smart and funny and witty and awesome!!! And I can't believe people were saying Matthew Perry was acting like Chandler all over again, he was NOTHING like Chandler. And I love Amanda Peet and Steven Webber was deliciously evil. Can't wait to see how it all pans out. Oh and the beginning part, with the director in the control room? I've been in that situation...so it is pretty realistic.

Tomorrow night...CSI and Grey's Anatomy!!!! And then next week Lost! I am so excited!!

I loved this! Your comment on Willie cracked me up - so true, DUH people!

I know I'd cry at the Steve Irwin tribute too.

They are suggesting that Anna murdered her son. Very weird any way you look at it.

Personally I like Jack Black better then JT :)

Well, I'm way late on this post, but tonight (Thursday) is my big tv night, I can't wait!! There have been a couple shows I've missed that I wanted to check out, but family drama didn't permit it.

Steve Irwin's daughter's speech had me bawling. She's such a sweet and intelligent little girl. You could tell how much her daddy meant to her. There will never be another like him and I hope that his message of compassion for and conservation of animals continues to spread.

Loved your Willie Nelson comment, I said the same thing. Toby Keith even has a goofy song titled "I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again".

Hope you're having a great week and wishing you a wonderful weekend too.

I agree on Willie and Anna. Yes, I'm shocked that no one considered pulling his tour bus over sooner but it's not a shocker. And the tabloids are all over Smith as they are looking for criminal wrongdoing from a bedbound woman who just had a baby. The media does tick me off.

Thankfully they found that baby and now hopefully they'll find the the other child that went missing (whose mom committed suicide after recording an interview with Nancy Grace.)

Maybe I'm just sick of seeing stupid events turn into national news and important ones drag on and on and on. Yes, we need a new fall season. (Waiting out Battlestar Galactica, Lost and a few other goodies.)
