Weekend Update

It's been a laid back weekend around here. Besides running errands and gymnastics class, as a family we have done a lot of lazing around the house. It's not too hot outside so Madison and I spent a lot of time in the backyard this morning. Yesterday she and I went to visit Amy and Ken in their new house, which is beautiful! Madison did pretty good in a house not entirely child-proof, and hopefully she didn't stress them out too much. The only near miss was her trapping one of their cats (named Flo) in its hiding place - then giving it a kiss on the face. Thankfully Flo simply laid there wishing Madison to leave. I think you guys are going to be in good shape if/when you have little feet of your own chasing Flo around!

It was a weekend for movie catch-up. We caught Oceans 12 and Narnia. The latter was the better of the two, I was so impressed with how well they told the story. Considering Oceans 12, it's always nice to see George Clooney on my TV screen, but the movie didn't thrill me half as much as Oceans 11 did. For some reason I don't remember half of those men on the team, and had trouble with the story line. It didn't connect to the first movie at all for me. Perhaps I should have re-watched Oceans 11 first? I also thought Catharine Zeta-Jones' acting was horrific, which surprised me.

I'm really frustrated because I'm trying to grow my bangs out, and with my straight hair, I always look disheveled. I need to consider some tricks in order to get through the next four or so inches. I like simple - I don't blow dry or curl my hair, and it's very healthy because I wash 'n go. I'm not up for changing that. I'm also not young enough for a lot of the tricks I'm seeing on the internet. There are just some hair accessories that aren't meant for over 30. Sigh.

I am very behind on my blog-reading, and I apologize. I am going to make a point to visit all of my favorites ASAP!

I can totally relate to the hair issue! I am wash and go too, and people always ask why my hair is so healthy, it's because I don't blast it with hot air every morning! I do get it highlighted every six weeks (don't tell. Good luck finding a style. I've had mine long for years and wear it in a ponytale 90% of the time.

Thanks for the movie review!

I had a laid back weekend, too. It was nice.

I totally hear you on the hair. I grew out my bangs a few years back, and the growing out process was the worst! Once you get pass that awkward "not bangs, not rest of the hair" part, it's totally worth it. Every once in a while, I think about trying bangs again, and then I remember the growing out...good luck!

I'm super behind with blog reading, too. Well, I've been reading, but with Blogger acting up, I haven't been commenting so much. I need to be better about that this week!

Or, just do what I did. Don't cut your hair for two years.

Personally, I hate George Clooney and Julia Roberts, but that's just me!

On a lighter note, keep growing those bangs out! It takes so long, and my wife was getting frustrated too. She hated her bangs and wanted longer hair there to just brush back or to the side, but she finally did it and now it's very beautiful!

I loved Oceans 12 and Narnia! It sounds like you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend! Those are the best kind of weekends to have...

Hey Lora, just dropping by to say hi, and that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I too haven't been a regular visitor for awhile, and I'm trying to do the rounds now, before getting really busy again !! Have a great week, take care, Meow

Glad you had a relaxing weekend and that Madison didn't destroy your friends house (or the cat for that matter) lol!

Gotta agree with you on the movies, Narnia was awesome--felt like an idiot watching it by myself (no kids around at all). I own Ocean's 12 and have yet to watch more than 20 minutes of it. It just can't keep my attention, don't know why.

Good luck with the hair issues, wish I had some advice, but I'm not a hair gal.

This is going to be interesting seeing you without the bangs. How long have you had them? Narnia did kick butt and I have no interest in seeing another Ocean film after seeing the first one.

I really need to see Narnia, but frankly it's on a long list of movies that I need to see.

Flo and Midge both survived the visit. When Flo was a kitten, she was in a house with a two year old, so she can definitely hold her own. Midge, however may be a different story...

Glad you had a nice weekend.

I never cut my bangs for that reason alone. I know as soon as I would cut them, I would want them to grow back out again. Not worth the effort for me.

Narnia is an awesome movie. They did such a good job not butchering the book. I read the book to my students every year and my only regret is that the movie is rated pg and I can't show it to them.
