Beautiful Day

I'm having a writer's block kind of day, so this is a random list of what's on my mind.

1. I love the way Madison wrinkles her face when she exclaims "Eeeewwwww".

2. I hate Christmas shopping. I have a little bit still to do (I always start in September - don't throw tomatoes), and I just hate it. We've picked names on my Dad's side (big family he married in to) and we'll probably have Christmas eve dinner with Karl's Mom, wishing each other (as adults) a Merry Effing Christmas over a bottle of wine. I'm totally good with that. I guess that makes my middle name Grinch? It's really all about the kids in my opinion. I couldn't care less otherwise. The marketing behind Christmas ruined it shortly after my very first Christmas on my own. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. :)

3. We're NOT hosting Thanksgiving this year. That is a beautiful thing.

4. There is a marvelous feeling about ending the day in your freshly scrubbed house. I'm so anal and have very little time to do as much about that as I'd like. So when I do a down and dirty kind of cleaning, I feel elated.

5. Karl and I are catching up on the recorded TV programs tonight over a Papa John's pizza. Just thinking about it is making my stomach growl. Oh, wait... I forgot to feed my own face lunch today. That will do it!

6. I can't wait for the new Harry Potter movie. I am seriously looking forward to seeing it. So much so that I might actually step foot in a movie theatre. Egads!

7. Madison is having Christmas portraits done next weekend, and I cannot figure out what I'm going to do with her hair. I also have to find some tights and black shoes - she has the most beautiful dress!

Madison is finishing up her bath, time for me to take over and get her dressed for bed. Have a great weekend.

Same here on Thanksgiving. This will be the first year since we've been married (19 years) that family will not be with us.

I have mixed feelings, but it's an opportunity to do something different. We're thinking Disney right now.

I wish I could be that big on cleaning but I do love the smell of Pine-Sol. Dunno why. I'm sure that Maddy is going to look great in anything you put her in. Hair... I dunno. I think she has great hair as it is.

Isn't amazing how much we juggle in our brains daily. I usually start shopping in September, but for some reason this year I just started. Thanksgiving is at my house this year and the $185 shopping trip yesterday proved it :) I also am looking forward to the Harry Potter movie, I can't wait!

I think you and Teri are soul sisters, truely, with the cleaning thing. More power to you.
Put Maddy's hair in an oil well -- they only wear it like that at this age, so revel in it.

Holidays: We are selling tickets to my place. My Mom and Ken's folks together for the first time. FUN! Christmas has been nothing more than a way to fuel our economy for a LONG time. I think it is what you make of it. But it makes me sad that people are already hanging their lights and such, and it is not even TURKEY time!

Wow! I am impressed. I start Christmas shopping in mid-December.

Fred: I say Disney is a pretty perfect way to spend the holiday!

Martin: Thanks. Her hair is pretty great - but there's just so much of it. Not quite enough for a ponytail yet, but close.

Teri: Yes! It's only 6 am and I've already got my day mapped out. Scary.

Amy: An oil well is probably exactly what I'll do. Thanks for the advice!

Meegan: I wish I could just let go and do the same.

Jas: For a couple of years, that's truly all I did! I'm trying to get better at being personal about the gifts.

Ugh, I hate Christmas shopping too. I usually wait until the last minute or try to buy as much as possible online so I don't have to set foot in the mall.
