The hike this morning was awesome! My friend Tracey and I ventured up to Fletcher Canyon, which is on Mt. Charleston (for those who don't live here, it's a pretty big mountain literally just outside of town). The trail is just across the road from the first campground you pass on the main road up the mountain. We started out early this morning and we got really lucky - the whole way up we saw only one other set of hikers, near the very top. It was awesome because we had the liberty of taking a break and enjoying the view on the trail without worrying about others. On the way down it was obvious everyone else had started their hiking adventure, it was getting pretty busy.
The trail is 1.8 miles one way, and it was labeled as a moderate hike, and I'd say that's accurate. There were periods of steep climbing but it wasn't strenuous (as in a kick-your-ass). I have no idea how long it took us to do the hike itself, I was soooo not about looking at the time today! We got down the mountain in time to have an awesome Greek lunch at the Market Grille Cafe.
