The Voters Got It Wrong

I tried to sleep it off, but I'm still in shock about Chris Daughtry's departure. WTF?! Although the others left are talented, he really was the most marketable. I think the results threw the judges a curve ball too; Simon Cowell looked stunned. Katharine McPhee is still there only because she is the only one left with boobs. Seriously.

You may now returned to your regularly scheduled programming.

Amy and I were both stunned as well last night as well. Katherine looked as if she knew she was the one going home. I do agree that she got a lot of votes for being the only female left in the competition, but I also think that it was too much fan over-confidence so they didn't vote for him. It also didn't help that Elliot had one hell of a performance on Tuesday. In terms of overall performances his was probably the best. I still can't stand Taylor.

My condolenses on Chris, many people are stunned. I think you are right about the boobs thing. It's a tragedy when cleavage wins out over talent.

Yeah, I didn't like that decision by the public. I don't really think the public votes, I think they make the public think that they're voting to shut us up. I think they had it pegged all along on some chalkboard somewhere in the basements of Fox Studios who is going to win and who won't.

I thought Katharine did okay, and that's not my crush talking either. Elliot and Chris were frickin' awesome! But WHAT THE HOLY HELL is Taylor still doing there? Why did he even make the cut??

I was certain that Chris would be the one with the contract at the end!

Anyway...

Ken: I would agree there may have been too much voter confidence for Chris!

Cyndi: Yeah - I wonder if he's going to take the lead singer for Fuel job? woohooo

Barbara: You really missed out on watching Chris - not only could the guy sing, but he is seriously easy on the eyes. ;)

Jas: I'm pretty impressed that besides that crush you have, you noted here she didn't WOW anyone this week. I hope your beautiful-but-stressed-wife has a Happy Mother's Day too!

I think this shows that a lot of people have it in their mind that one person will go farther than others and that they need to vote to get someone they like in second place. This may be just one case where everyone expected Chris was getting enough votes to keep going and made secondary votes. I'm not religious in my watching of the show but yes, he will still be the most successful of the batch.

Yeah but did you hear that Fuel (one of his favorite all time bands) offered him a gig as a lead singer! They've been looking for a while and his rendition of one of their songs just blew them away cause he nailed it. He definately got what he deserved. Sometimes things just have a way of working out. Besides, I think personally that there's more to it than just the voters that call in....notice how almost all the winners fit a certain pattern that makes them "moldable"? After all, it is Simon's money that is put up for all this. He wants another Kelly Clarkson, or someone willing to sellout....and that wasn't Bo, and it sure isn't Chris!

Get alife. It's just a t.v. show

You know what I work at a large company and guess what Thursday at work no one was talking about Idol.
No America is not shocked, America could care less--Just Chris fans are shocked and obviously they are a smaller group than I had previously thought.

Gotta love those anonymous commenters....so fervently believing in their point of view that they can't even put their name on it.

Aaaanywayyy....I still think Chris was "let go" so he could pursue other interests. I think the producers and Simon all know that the typical Idol-pop record that every winner is forced to make just wouldn't work with Chris.

Yeah, I was a little shocked when Chris was cut, but looking back on it.. he really doesn't need this show to be a success. The last 3 that are left (and I really like Elliot) need AI to launch their careers.

Martin: Yes, agreed. I think many thought he was so safe and didn't vote.

Angi: I heard about the Fuel offer! Whether he takes that or not, I think he's going to be okay.

Anonymous: Too bad you didn't have the balls to leave your name. I would have loved this debate - about my so-called nonlife as well as America's shock.

Beckeye: Perhaps he was "let go" and it probably was for the best. Rockers haven't historically fit the Pop mold, eh?

Teri: Good point. The others will need help for launch, despite their talent.

Ethel and Barbara: Thank you so much! It was a fantastic day.
