Delayed Tag

I was tagged by Angi awhile back, and it’s been sitting half done on my desktop. I opened it today and thought the opening of 2006 would be the perfect time to post it. I’m not going to tag anyone with this, but please, if you enjoy this, feel free to do it. I’d love to read what others of you have to say!

What were you doing 10 years ago?

I was 25. Hmmm. Going to college, working as a secretary and trying to make a failing relationship work. After 4 years I knew he wasn’t going to marry me, but I was hanging on despite knowing in my heart we weren’t going to make it (unfortunately I hung in there almost another year). I was also doing a lot of partying too. Ahhh – the good ol’ days of meeting the sun as I stepped out of a bar after a girls’ night out. I sure don’t miss those hangovers anymore, but I do miss the sleeping in.

What were you doing one year ago?

Madison was 7 months old, and I was still trying to understand this thing we call parenting. I’m getting the impression as I go along that we’re all flying by the seat of our pants, perhaps never totally understanding (yet doing our absolute best).

Five snacks you enjoy:

  • Apple rings (oooooh I love those things)

  • Popcorn

  • Yogurt with granola

  • Butter pecan ice cream

  • Salt and Vinegar chips

Five songs to which you know all the lyrics:
  • Any song from Duran Duran’s Rio album

  • “Naked Eye” by Luscious Jackson

  • “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit (this describes much of my 20’s)

  • “Mayonaise” by The Smashing Pumpkins

  • “Blinded” by Third Eye Blind

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:
  • Quit my day job and be a stay at home Mom

  • Travel

  • Guessing I’d be a new millionaire – pay off all our debt.

  • Convince Karl to start his own business

  • Buy a bigger house.

Five bad habits:
  • Poor eating choices.

  • Smoking.

  • Picking at my cuticles.

  • I spend money poorly. I have savings and retirement only because I’ve opened accounts that take my money from me and that I can’t touch. I have no clue what saving for a rainy day is!

  • Not getting enough sleep.

Five things you like doing (in no particular order):
  • Blogging.

  • Shopping!

  • Watching TV at the end of the day with hubby.

  • Watching Madison learn new things every day.

  • Reading.
Five things you would never wear, buy, or get new again:
  • Shoulder pads.

  • Jelly sandals.

  • Stirrup pants.

  • Giant, heavy earrings.

  • Flourescent colors.
Can you tell I was a teenager in the 80’s?

Five favorite toys:

  • My IPod.

  • Sirius radio.

  • Laptop computers, one office issued, one for home.

  • My Dyson vacuum. Even though Karl does all the vacuuming in our house, I LOVE how it works.

  • My Sony digital camera.

I’m adding a category, since it is the new year ‘n all!

Five goals for 2006 (I don’t like the term “resolutions” – they’re meant to be broken)
  • Lose the last of my pregnancy weight

  • Spend more time relaxing at home with the family, not worrying about what needs to be done

  • Buy a bigger house

  • Be healthier, building my immune system

  • Stop smoking!

Very cool list. I want a Dyson vacuum. When you move, do you plan on staying on the same side of town? Does Karl smoke too?

Teri has Dyson vacuum envy, its the only cool new gizmo that we don't currently own. Well ok there's the Ipod thing too, but I don't want one and Teri won't buy herself anything that costs any amount of real money.

Teri: Yes, we want to stay on this side of town. Unfortunately, Karl smokes too.

DG: The Dyson is seriously worth the money. I say buy her an IPod! :)

I didn't know about the iPod. Interesting. Need to sit down and scroll through your songs hahaha. Damn, it is amazing how quickly 10 years flies by.

Jas: Honestly, I have no idea why anyone makes resolutions. Something about a fresh start until oh... February. Then we're all &^$% it!

Martin: MY song list? I only have 9 GB in there (although when I first started ripping my CDs, I was only choosing my favorite tunes from each CD instead of the whole CD). I think YOUR IPod would be wayyyyy more interesting. :)

Have you quit smoking? How's it going? Been there, it's not easy but you can do it if you really want to.

I wish there was a way we could all share our iTunes together for free, that would be so cool.

Great list. And, WW, I'm nerdy, so I use the iTunes site. I'm afraid of all the other sites.

Lora, I remember partying as the sun was rising. I would go home, sleep for an hour, then take a shower and go to work.

Now, if I'm not in bed by 10:00 pm, I'm yawning the next morning.

*sigh*
