Singing the Baptism Hymn

I finally found a reverend willing to baptize Madison without a bunch of hoopla involved. I'm Catholic, but not a practicing one. Without starting a religious debate - I became disillusioned with the church as a teenager and haven't been to church since. BUT - I'm very thankful I was given the basis for my beliefs today. I was able to make my own peace with God... so it is important to me that Madison get that foundation as well, so she can make her own decisions when she's old enough. Needless to say she won't be baptized Catholic, but non-denominational. I had the hardest time finding a church willing to baptize her - either I had to be an active member in the church or I had to be willing to have her baptized during a service where others are baptized as well. I want to have this be a family service - baptism to me is private and personal. We'd chosen her Godparents before she was born, and they've since had their own child who is about to be baptized before Madison. I'm so thankful I finally found a reverend who agrees this is something between us as a family and God, and is happy to do this for us.

On a lighter note, I'm off work until Monday... hip hip hooray! Mom has arrived and we had a great day together. Thankfully Madison was comfortable with her right away, and Mom played with her all day.

We have been there as well. Lloyd and I have different faiths, but as adults really do not believe in organized religion. Lloyd grew up with the Catholic church crammed down his throat and I was brought up without any religion because my parents had a falling out with a temple. So between us we decided to let Josh choose his own and so far I have to say it has worked out.
I am glad you are having a good visit with mom. Isn't it funny how kids know family?

I'm personally happy that I was able to see such diverse religions growing up. It did give me a basis for my own Martenism. B)

It's so refreshing to hear I am not the only one who has questioned my religion, and whether or not I wanted to steer my child on the same path. So many have such strong opinions where religion is concerned.
