It Smells Like...

I've read the sense of smell is the most powerful of our senses. Have you ever caught the hint of a scent that took you to another place in time, or reminded you of someone from your past?

I was picking up takeout last night for dinner after Madison went to bed. It was a beautiful night - a little humid, a little warm - great driving weather. Suddenly I was remembering something that happened nearly 20 years ago. I was somewhere around 15, and my girlfriends and I somehow convinced our mothers to let us go to the Trubadour (an under 21 nightclub back then) to see the Untouchables. The Untouchables! I was just going to die if I didn't get to see them! We were so jazzed, and felt like we'd pulled off a coup (we'd been caught smoking cloves at a different under 21 nightclub called That's Entertainment by one of our mothers). It was one of those incredible nights while a teenager where all the planets aligned just right and the evening was successful on so many levels. I remembered things I'd thought I'd forgotten, and for a little while I had that sneaky smile back on my face.

It has been awhile since you've had a sneaky smile on your face! I can't believe you got to see the Untouchables during their heyday. B( They are definitely one of the bands that I would have like to have seen back then but such is life. hahaha Damn, I haven't heard anyone mention the Troubador in decades.

I can't believe I've seen a band in concert that you haven't! Did you ever go to the Troubadour? It was great - the band was right at the far end of the dance floor, no real separation between the hoards of teens and them. What a show.
